Vol 1 Ch 3
Chapter 3 – Flashback ~Elesia Elemirea~
♦♦♦
Elesia Elemirea.
A rare genius, even among the generations of magical families. Her magical powers, magical sense, and memory are all outstanding, and her potential surpasses even that of her father, the current leader of the Kingdom’s Magicians.
Her talent was apparent from an early age, and those around her even began calling her “the prodigy of the Elemirea family.”
Thanks to this, the magical family, the Elesia Count family, became famous in high society.
Unlike the Marquis of Astia, which is in some ways the polar opposite, the Elesia Count family has not made many achievements over the years, and has always been overshadowed by public opinion in comparison. In terms of talent alone, she is undoubtedly the best girl in the kingdom. It’s no wonder she’s the talk of the town.
Perhaps because of this, Elesia has received many marriage proposals.
The son of the chairman of the commerce association, the eldest son of a noble, and at one point even a marriage proposal from royalty.
However, perhaps it was a drawback of her overwhelming talent. Elesia didn’t have much interest in others.
Even though she was in high society, she had few friends, and out of all her family, she only opened up to her mother.
One day, her mother had said this to her───
“I hope that one day you too will meet a wonderful boy… someone you want to be by your side for the rest of your life. Everything you see will be filled with happiness, you know?”
She didn’t understand what it meant.
She knew that as an aristocrat, she would have to marry for political reasons someday.
But someone that she wanted? They were all just like rocks lying around? That’s what Elesia had thought ever since she heard her mother’s words.
That didn’t change until she was twelve years old, and in the end, her indifferent personality grew along with her body.
However, to her father, the current head of the family, it was a trivial matter.
In the future, Elesia will surpass the prestigious Astia family of knights.
“Sigh… Father keeps giving me troublesome work.”
One day when she turned 12 years old.
Elesia was walking alone in a forest far from the Earldom.
If she wanted to rise to the top as a magician, she should get used to fighting from a young age────That’s what she was taught, and she was thrown into the forest as a child so that she could eventually complete missions on her own.
“Defeat magical beasts. Even though only relatively weak magical beasts live here, I don’t think it’s a place where a lady dancing under a chandelier should be walking.”
As she complained, a wolf-like magical beast suddenly appeared from the bushes ahead.
It didn’t seem to have noticed Elesia’s presence yet, as it just looked around restlessly.
Elesia pointed her finger at it and decided to defeat it immediately.
“The sunlight that falls on the world and converges is at my sleeve.”
The magic that the prodigy uses is a very common light in the natural world.
She can create it, but basically she simply collects the light scattered around, gathers it in her hand, and releases it.
That is why it has the fastest velocity. Once the chant is finished, all she has to do is release it, and it will carve out the surroundings with the inherent properties of light, literally piercing the enemy at the speed of light.
Unless he creates one from zero, Elesia will hardly run out of magic, due to her enormous amount of magic power.
“Complete, ‘Arrow of Light'”
That is why, to be honest, Elesia was not scared even when she was thrown into the forest alone.
She is unstoppable. If she fights seriously, she can fight her father and overwhelm her siblings and people her age.
“Now, how many more should we kill before we go home?”
Seeing the monster with its head blown off, Elesia starts walking lightly.
Let’s just get this over with and go home quickly────it was obvious that she had let her guard down when she thought that.
“gyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!”
The roar she heard from behind finally made her aware of its presence.
“—?!”
Elesia turned around instantly.
When did this happen? That’s what she thought, its bear-like appearance. It was so small that she’d overlooked it… but its gigantic body was far from that. It was easily more than twice her own size, and exuded an overwhelming sense of intimidation.
It was probably masking its footsteps until it was close to its prey.
However, Elesia panicked and was unable to answer the question, “Why?”
Instead, with what could be called reflexive speed, she pointed her finger at the giant beast.
“The sun descending upon the world and converging──”
Elesia was still a child.
With almost no combat experience, she has no idea what position magicians in the world fight in.
As a result, Elesia makes a fatal mistake in a crucial situation.
“gyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!”
“Guh?!”
The demonic beast’s huge arm struck Elesia’s small torso with a powerful horizontal slash.
“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!”
The chanting of a spell leaves a huge opening.
The moment the battle came to close range, the magician should have chosen to flee.
However, the young girl does not know that yet.
This is the difference in experience──Elesia’s body cuts down the vegetation of the forest and rolls across the ground like a ping-pong ball.
“O-Ouch…”
It hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts!?!?!?
Why? How? Such painful questions filled her head.
But the beast was not one to wait for that.
After all, in front of the beast was a lump of fine meat. With food in front of it, the beast approached the prey.
(My, my body…)
Even if she wanted to run away, the pain ran through the places where she had been punched and slammed, and she couldn’t move.
If this continues’… Elesia was assailed with fear.
“Why?”
What had happened to me? I’m strong… but I’m dying? That’s why I didn’t want to do it. And why did you leave me here all alone in the first place? I didn’t hear about such a beast. But, more than anything, I don’t want to die.
“I don’t want to… die…!”
Even though she said that, her body wouldn’t move the way she wanted it to.
Even though she begged for help, the beast wouldn’t stop.
Elesia’s eyes started to fall… Tears that she had never shed since she was old enough to understand began to spill.
At that moment───
“Hey, if we’re going to play tag, then I’ll join in, you damn loser.”
───Suddenly, the beast’s arm was blown away.
“gyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!???”
The beast’s scream echoed in her ears.
At that moment, as if to create an effect of the raging blood splatter, a blonde boy fell from the sky.
“Shut up… I was in the middle of searching for interesting plants. Why don’t you welcome a group of people joining in the middle of the game?”
Probably about the same age? He looked young, no different from any other child.
The only thing different was that he was holding something like a black sword in his hand.
Elesia, a magical genius, was astonished when she saw the sword.
(Wait, was that made by… a sword?)
Without clearing his doubts, the boy swung his sword sideways.
However, the beast dodged by jumping, and slammed down with its remaining arm.
However, instead of crushing the beast’s small body, the boy blocked it with his sword and laughed ferociously.
“You’re weak, you damn beast! Gain some weight and try again!”
The boy’s kick pierced the beast’s stomach.
Despite the difference in physique, the beast’s body bounded and rolled on the ground.
Then, for some reason, the boy began swinging his sword sideways again.
There should have been some distance between them. With that sword’s reach, it shouldn’t have been able to reach them.
“King of the Forest.”
However, only Elesia thought so.
At the same time as he swung his sword sideways, the blade began to extend and he accurately decapitated the rolling monster’s head.
“……”
Silent, stunned. Nothing came out of Elesia’s mouth.
Until now, her mind and body had been filled with fear, but then this boy appeared and everything changed.
Despite being about the same age, he had the strength to overwhelm that giant. The ability to use magic without the need for chanting, a weakness of magicians. In addition, he had a fighting skill that combined both.
…It was out of the ordinary.
It made me feel foolish for being called a prodigy—-
“Are you okay?”
As she was stunned, the boy slowly approached her.
Now that he was facing her, she realized that the boy was the one she had seen several times at social gatherings, the one known as the disgrace of the Marquis of Astia.
Why? Aren’t they calling him incompetent? Such questions arise, but before that–
“Ah, ahh…”
Elesia’s emotions, which had been blocked by fear, began to overflow.
“Aa… Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!”
My first experience of near death, my first experience of fear.
These things caused Elesia to cry out loud for the first time in her life.
The boy became flustered and confused by the sudden crying… After much hesitation, he hugged Elesia tightly.
“C-calm down… okay? It’s okay, I’ve defeated them! There are no more monsters!”
“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!”
“Oh, come on! If they appear in your dreams, just call me, and if they appear in real life, just call me without worrying about being a bother!”
And then,
“If you do, I’ll definitely defeat them! So stop crying! I don’t like seeing people crying!”
On that day, Elesia met a hero.
It was her first experience in her life. Her first time in life to feel rewarded.
The girl who was called a prodigy took a while to stop crying.
(Ahh… what is this feeling?)
At that time, there was a boy who hugged her tightly as if to reassure her.
It was reassuring, comfortable, her heart was beating loudly, and she couldn’t take her eyes off his back.
If she could wish, she would like to stay like this forever.
She had never felt such feelings before.
(Is that so… I get it.)
After the boy took her home, Elesia finally noticed the change in herself.
Then she turned to her mother and said:
“Mother… I’ve found someone. Someone I want to be by my side for the rest of my life.”
A child prodigy from the magical family of Count Elemirea.
From that day on, she ignored all opposition and ran away from home.
It was all for her first love, love at first sight, and the one who would later come to be known as the “Black Knight” – to be by the side of the hero.
